To start a small business (freelancing) or a new startup, you don't need any fancy invoicing software application. I have looked over and over for one, but they are all pretty expensive, and offering many unnecessary features.

The best solution for me is still a simple Google Sheets template that does the trick.

How to use:

• number your invoice! Always start with 1 and make sure they are all sequenced!
• fill in the blanks (client details, your details, invoice items, price, tax rate, ...)
• fill in terms & conditions
• Save as PDF and send it out to your client
• For the next invoice, copy the file and start over again.

It's that simple.
